On Tuesday 19 November, York will be the first calling point, and the only one in the North of England, of the nationwide bus tour promoting the first ever Small Business Saturday in the UK.
St Sampsons Square 11:00am – 2:00pm
Small Business Saturday is on 7 December, and is all about encouraging everyone in the UK to support small businesses.
Events and promotions are being held throughout the country on what is one of the busiest shopping days of the year. T
he Prime Minister, the government and all major political parties are endorsing the day.
The bus tour will be promoting the campaign in advance to shoppers and also handing out vital promotional material to get businesses involved in the day. This is an ideal opportunity for small business owners to come along and tell the Small Business Saturday team, City of York Council’s York Means Business team and the media about what they are doing to celebrate Small Business Saturday.
Representatives from the Federation of Small Businesses will also be present to give advice to businesses.
York will be celebrating Small Business Saturday itself by hosting a ‘Pop-Up Shopping Mall’ celebrating York’s independent businesses.
Organised by City of York Council and Proudly™ (a collective of York’s independent businesses), the event will feature 45 local businesses selling goods and sharing their unique stories.
The event will also host a small number of workshops and taster sessions throughout the day.
Open 10am until 3pm, the pop-up shopping mall will be in the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall and is free to attend.
