What’s on – Celebrate York / Münster twinning anniversary at City Screen

City Screen joins the 60th anniversary celebrations of York’s twinning with the city of Münster with a screening of the delightfully quirky German comedy Toni Erdmann on Monday 18 September at 5:15pm.

York was one of the first cities in Britain to partner with a German city after WWII, encouraged by the Foreign Office to promote healing and contribute to a more secure peace in Europe. Since 1957 many exchanges have taken place between Münster and York including schools, choirs, sports teams, art exhibitions, and civic receptions.  Many people’s photos and reminiscences are currently on show in an exhibition upstairs at York Explore.

Dave Taylor, Marketing Manager of City Screen, said, “I’m pleased that the cinema will be able to contribute two films towards this celebration. The first one of these, Toni Erdmann, finds excruciating humour and great pathos in a comedy drama about an embarrassing parent.  Toni is a practical joker who tries to reconnect with his hard-working daughter by creating an outrageous alter ego and posing as her CEO’s life coach.  Cinemagoers should please note that we’ve had to bring the screening forward to 5:15 from the time published in our brochure.  I hope that doesn’t inconvenience anyone.”

Book to see Toni Erdmann (15) at City Screen on 0871 902 5726, or at the Coney Street Box Office, or online at:
