Training for “Race for Life” participants

City of York Council is teaming up with Race for Life and fitness trainers to launch an exciting new course. The programme will be preparing and training women to take part in the 5k Race for Life.

The courses are suitable for people of all levels and abilities, from those who have never run before, to those that may have participated in a 5k run previously.

The running classes will start the week commencing 30 April and will be taking place at various locations across the city, at a range of times, including mornings and early evenings. The programme will be running for eight weeks before the race, and on the ninth week the Race for Life will be taking place on 27 June at York Knavesmire.

Dean Sharp City of York Council’s Sports Participation Officer says “This is the first year these classes have taken place and we hope that they’ll help to motivate the women with their race training. Classes will be fun and sociable, where people can grab a coffee and have a chat afterwards. If you want to start running as part of a group this is a great opportunity to join one near you.”
