The City of York Council says it is encouraging residents to “share their thoughts on the future of the Burton Stone Community Centre at a drop-in event on Monday 22 September“.
York’s community centres are losing their Council financial support so local residents in Clifton can expect some disappointing news.
The event will take place at the Community Centre on Evelyn Crescent between 4pm and 8pm. Local people can pop in for a cup of tea or coffee and a chat about plans to develop the centre into a hub that the entire community can share. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions, and offer feedback and ideas.
The council is proposing to use the centre to provide specialist day activities for adults with learning disabilities and, at the same time, further develop it as a hub at the heart of the local community that can be used by local residents.
