Residents are being urged to respect the decision to close all playgrounds.
On the Revival estate, off Tadcaster Road, the playgrounds are managed by open space management company Greenbelt. In response to an e-mail from Cllr Stephen Fenton they stated that “there is no requirement to close all of our play areas.” This runs counter to Government guidance which states that “Communal spaces within parks such as playgrounds and football pitches will be closed.”
City of York Council officers stepped in and put cable ties around gates at the two playgrounds on the estate as a stop-gap measure. Sadly, one set of cable ties was cut shortly afterwards.
Stephen has asked the council to step in again to install a more permanent solution, such as a chain and lock.
Hi Stephen
I trust that you and your loved ones are in good health!
Firstly can I thank you for chasing up the grit bin now positioned on Carron Crescent.
This is just an idea that I thought you and your Party might like to be part of.
Following the reasonable success of the first ‘Clap for our Carers’ / ‘Light it Blue’, I wondered if our Ward could be asked to take it a step further this Thursday by digging out Blue Christmas lights and displaying them in gardens and around front doors and light them from dusk to bedtime every Thursday.
I have been in touch with Annmarie, the organiser of ‘Clap for our Carers’ and suggested that it could be the next step to show our appreciation following the lead of many public buildings and local Police that joined the ‘Light it Blue’ campaign.
Let me know what you think!
I am married to a Key Worker and there are several others in our street alone, so over the whole Ward I am sure there would be a great response.
Maybe it could be rolled out across the whole City, we already have a good Green reputation in York, what about us being the first Blue City?!?
Kind Regards
Duncan (Bartlett)
