Detectives in York are appealing for the public’s help following a robbery in the city.
It occurred at 11.15pm on Tuesday 8 May 2012, at the Gold Mine on Haxby Road after two men entered the shop.

One of the men stood near the door as the second man threatened the woman, who was serving behind the counter, with a large knife. The suspect demanded that she open the till before grabbing the notes. It is not known where the men headed after leaving the shop.

The man who threatened the cashier is described as 6ft tall with a stocky build. He was wearing light grey jogging bottoms and a dark hooded Reebok top and a scarf covering his face.

The second man is also approximately 6ft tall. He was wearing a grey hoodie with a pattern on the front, dark tracksuit bottoms and dark trainers. His face was covered by a Halloween type mask and he was carrying a black shoulder bag with a long strap over his back.

Detective Sergeant Fionna McEwan, of York CID, said: “This was a shocking incident which has naturally left the woman who was threatened distressed and shaken by the experience.

“I urge anyone who can identify either of the suspects to contact the police or Crimestoppers immediately.”

DS McEwan added: “At this stage we do not believe that there is anything to link this robbery with the one that occurred in February this year.”
