Hull Road resurfacing

City of York Council is advising residents and commuters that essential resurfacing works will be taking place on the A1079 between Common Road and Holme Lea Farm, Dunnington, this month.

The resurfacing works will be carried out in two phases. The first phase of works is programmed to commence on Friday 22 June and will last for approximately one day, subject to weather conditions, working from 9.30am and 4pm.

The second phase of the operation is programmed to commence on Monday 2 July and will last for one night, subject to weather conditions, working from 7pm and 4am.

To allow this work to be carried out safely a convoy system with narrow lane widths will be incorporated.

As part of this system it will be necessary to stop vehicles from entering or exiting Common Road at their junctions with the A1079 Hull Road on Friday 22 June from 9.30am until 4pm and on Monday 2 July for a short period of time whilst the works encompass the junction.

During this period of work Common Lane will be supervised by traffic management operatives using stop and go boards, where traffic exiting Common Lane will be filtered in to the convoy controlled traffic when it is safe to do so. Minor delays may occur during these operations but this is for safety reasons.

As with any construction work, there is likely to be a certain amount of disruption and inconvenience. But everything reasonably possible will be done to keep this to a minimum.

Outside the proposed working hours the road will remain open as usual with no restrictions imposed.

The contractor carrying out the work will be East Riding of Yorkshire Council who will be responsible for your safety.
