Residents in North Yorkshire and the City of York have the opportunity to ask Assistant Chief Constable Iain Spittal about the crime and anti-social behaviour issues that matter most in their communities.

Iain, who is the chief officer responsible for delivering Safer Neighbourhoods policing, will be on hand to take questions via a webchat hosted on the North Yorkshire Police website on Friday 20 July 2012 between 12noon and 1pm.

The webchat goes live at 12noon when you can post your questions at www.northyorkshire.police.uk/webchat

Questions can also be sent in advance to the North Yorkshire Police Twitter account @NYorksPolice with the hashtag #webchat

“We know that the fight against crime and anti-social behaviour is being won in North Yorkshire and the City of York, which remains one of the safest areas to live, work and visit in the country.

“Between April and July 2012, crime has reduced by 13% in comparison to the same period the previous year. To put it in real terms, this equates to 1,311 fewer victims of crime.

“This is very pleasing to everyone connected to North Yorkshire Police and our partner agencies, who work tirelessly to enhance the quality of life in our neighbourhoods.

“However, we are striving to improve further and deliver the very best policing service possible.

“The webchat on Friday is a great opportunity for people to raise crime or anti-social behaviour issues with me directly. I want to know how North Yorkshire Police is perceived by local people and what we can do to make communities feel safer and more secure.”
