Essential resurfacing works on Heslington Road

City of York Council will be carrying out essential resurfacing works on Heslington Road from Monday 13th August.

The programme of works is due to take two-weeks to complete, working Monday to Friday between 9.15 am and 4pm.

In order to carry out these works safely, Heslington Road will be closed during these working hours and a diversion will be in place for motorists.

Outside of the working hours, Heslington Road will be open as usual. Pedestrian access will be available at all times.

Bus services will be diverted for 24-hours whilst the works are ongoing. Please contact Bus Info on 01904 551400 for the revised arrangements.

Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times. There will be restricted access for residents’ vehicles within the limits of the closure and this will only be authorised when it is safe to do so and is entirely at the contractor’s discretion. The road closure will be supervised at each end to prevent unauthorised access.

The contractor carrying out the works will be Tarmac Ltd, who will be responsible for public safety. As with any construction work, there is likely to be a certain amount of disruption and inconvenience, but everything reasonably possible will be done to keep this to a minimum.
