Fun and fitness at the Just 30 Fair

If you’re feeling inspired by the Olympics, then the Just 30 Fair is a great chance for you to try new sports and activities for free in York.

City of York Council will be hosting the sport and activities Just 30 Fair at Rowntree Park on Saturday 15 September, starting at 12noon to 5pm. Now in its fifth year the Fair will be bigger and better than ever, with over 30 stalls from local sports and activity clubs, sports demonstrations and family fitness classes.

The fair is a great chance for you and your family to come along and find out about all the excellent sports and health activities that take place in York. There will be a great range of things for you to try from volleyball to yoga, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

This year for the first time a thrilling mascot race will be taking place, which will see Lenny the Bear (from St Leonard’s Hospice) take-on Mr Hearty (British Heart Foundation) and a whole range of other mascot as they compete for the title of mascot champion!

There will also be the opportunity for you to talk to various health and wellbeing organisations which will be there on the day.

Dean Sharp, City of York Council’s Sports Participation Officer says “This event is now its fifth year and just keeps getting better. We have a great range of sport and activity demonstrations, as well as the mascot race, which I’m really looking forward to.”

The fair is part of the Sport and Active Leisure team’s York Gold 2012 celebrations, to mark the London 2012 Olympic Games. So come along and join in the fun at the Just 30 Fair.
