York’s Park & Rides shortlisted for national award

City of York Council and First have been shortlisted for a national award, with the chance of winning thousands of pounds to support sustainable travel in the city.

The list of candidates shortlisted in the 2013 Eurostar Ashden Awards for Sustainable Travel was announced yesterday.

The Ashden Awards judging panel includes Professor Paul Ekins, Professor of Energy and Environment Policy of the UCL Energy Institute at University College, London; Andrew Simms of the New Economics Foundation; Dominic Brain of Christian Aid and Habiba Gitay, climate adaption expert at the World Bank.

Finalists for each category will be announced in May 2013, with awards to be presented to 12 winners at a prestigious ceremony in London on 20 June 2013.

Ashden Award winners will receive a cash prize of between £5,000 and £40,000, a platform to promote their work and tailored support to grow even further.
