York adult learning prospectus for 2013 now available

With the New Year almost here, City of York Council’s ‘Learning for Everyone’ adult learning programme is now available with new and improved courses for 2013.

The inspiring programme hosts a variety of courses to suit most interests and hobbies, alongside courses to help improve skills for work and self-employment, with knowledgeable and helpful tutors who know how to make their subject come alive.

Following public requests, this year’s list of courses includes more half-day and one-day workshops and short programmes, to make it easier for people to fit learning into their lives.

The programme includes popular courses to support people’s training and work needs, including book-keeping and counselling, some of which are accredited courses and can count towards recognised qualifications.

This year’s programme has taken on board the rising interest in practical craft skills and includes courses on making hand-tied bouquets, button holes and corsages, plus woodwork and embroidery classes.

Also on offer are courses on how to make the most out of new technologies, including ‘Get to know your iPad’ and ‘An introduction to Apple Mac computers’.

As part of Adult Learners Week 2013 there will also be an Adult Learners’ Awards Ceremony, with nine different categories for which anyone can nominate an adult learner. Nomination details will be announced in January.
