Nominations invited for the Adult Learners Awards 2013

Nominations are being welcomed by City of York Council for the city’s annual Adult Learners Awards to celebrate the achievements of people who are taking their studies to a higher level.

The Awards are open to anyone undertaking further education or training of any type, whether for qualifications, work or leisure. Shortlisted candidates, together with their tutor and the person who nominated them, will be invited to a prestigious Adult Learners Award ceremony in York on Thursday 23 May.

The awards have been jointly organised by a number of adult learning organisations in York who wish celebrate the amazing achievements of adult learners over 18 years old. City of York Council, the University of York, York College, York St John University, Higher York and the Worker’s Educational Association (WEA) are amongst those who want to recognise the success of students, pupils and learners through this award scheme.

Thousands of adults undertake further education or training in York every year taking advantage of learning opportunities ranging from full-time educational courses to hour-long, weekly evening classes.

This year there are eight categories of awards which celebrate formal and informal learning whether through courses, work or community-based opportunities.
