Glass engravers and Book-binders workshops

Would-be glass-engravers or book-binders can snap up the last few places left on City of York Council’s taster workshops to be held at York Explore, from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 May.

The six creative ‘Inspirations’ workshops give a flavour of some of the courses on offer and have been organised as part of Adult Learner’s Week which starts on Monday 20 May.

The taster courses in the Inspirations programme are:
• Let’s start Rag-Rugging

Bookbinding – Concertina books with a modern twist

Felt Making, contemporary landscapes

Glass engraving introduction

Stained glass, sun catchers

Chinese brush painting.

All last between three and five hours and are suitable for beginners. No special equipment is required.

As part of York Adult Learners’ Week, York Explore will also be staging the Inspirations exhibition: a colourful and imaginative collection of art produced by learners from council Adult Education courses, as well as submissions from the Fine Art Departments of York College and WEA (Workers’ Education Association).

The exhibition, now in its 9th year, runs during library opening hours and is free.

Prices for the taster workships vary between £15 and £30. For further information or to book a place please visit http://www.feelinginspired.co.uk/ or call the adult education booking line on 01904 552806 or email adult.education@york.gov.uk
