Future of Burnholme site

City of York Council is holding a public consultation about the future use of Burnholme Community College site on Saturday 15 March.

The drop in consultation event, which will be held onsite at the college, will take place between 11am and 3pm will offer an opportunity to meet with the project team and comment on the future use of the site.

Existing and potential new users will also be on hand as well as teams from the council including Sport and Active Leisure, Libraries and Archives, and the Eccles Teaching and Learning Centre. Other organisations at the event will include Burnholme Nursery, York Community Church, Christians Against Poverty, Tang Hall Sound, Music, Arts, Recreation and Training, (SMART) and NHS Services.

The Tang Hall ‘Big Local’ group will also be in attendance to discuss the £1 million Big Lottery Grant that has been made available for the Tang Hall area and which is looking to make the ward an even better place to live.

Burnholme community college will close in August 2014, but existing services such as Hempland Kids Club, Burnholme Nursery, Eccles Teaching & Learning Centre, York Community Church and G2 Church as well as continued use of sports facilities by the council’s Sports and Active Leisure team will operate from the site.

Feedback from the consultation will be presented in a report to Cabinet later this year regarding the future of the site.
