Julia Mulligan has published the refreshed Police and Crime Plan for North Yorkshire. This has followed an extensive consultation with the public, who have identified four priorities for North Yorkshire.
1. Protect vulnerable people
2. Cut crime and anti-social behaviour
3. Focus on prevention and early intervention
4. Improve victim care

The overall ambition is to keep North Yorkshire firmly within the safest three counties in the country, and to transform North Yorkshire Police into the most responsive police service in the country. Taking a different approach to others in the country, Julia Mulligan also wants to concentrate on quality and performance over statistics.
In keeping with Julia’s commitment to openness and transparency, also released today is the data that formed the original part of the consultation and which began the work to develop this new Police and Crime Plan. This came from a telephone survey of 1,100 people coming from each district in North Yorkshire as well as the City of York.
Julia Mulligan, North Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, said, “This North Yorkshire Police and Crime Plan began with the public’s views on what they want to see locally and county-wide. It also uses detailed analysis on crime and anti-social behaviour from the police and partners, and as such, now sets the blueprint for the Chief Constable. It shows that here in North Yorkshire, local communities really do have a voice in policing.”
“I want to see North Yorkshire stay as one of the safest counties in England, and will be holding the Chief Constable to account on behalf of the public.”
