British Cycling and Sky, in partnership with City of York Council, have scheduled a series of themed Sky Ride Local rides in York for 2015. Guided by British Cycling Ride Leaders along scenic local routes and pitched at three different levels, the rides will explore different themes from Wildlife and Wilderness to City Streets and Park Life.

Cllr Nigel Ayre, Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism, said: “The York Sky Ride Local programme gives inspired residents an opportunity to discover the joys of cycling on great routes with the help of friendly ride leaders. You don’t have to be the next Mark Cavendish or Lizzie Armitstead to take part either as there are routes for all abilities.”

Stewart Kellett, British Cycling’s Director of Recreation and Partnerships, said: ‘What better way to get some exercise, get outdoors and see your area in a new way than to join some of the themed Sky Ride Local bike rides taking place in and around York this summer.

‘The rides begin on Saturday 20 June, so there’s no time like the present to get your bike out. Whether you want to build your cycling confidence or already comfortable on a bike and looking for a challenge, now’s the time to register your free place on a Sky Ride Local bike ride in York.’
