Sun shines on Revival family fun day

Residents of the Revival estate, off Tadcaster Road, enjoyed their second annual family fun day on Sunday 16th July. The event was organised by the Revival Residents Community Association, with financial support from the Dringhouses & Woodthorpe Ward Committee. The event was also supported by Greenbelt, who are responsible for managing the green spaces on the estate, and a team from Tesco who ran a tombola stall.

Many local businesses generously donated prizes for the raffle, including the Co-op, Tesco, Ged Bell the butchers, the Marriott Hotel, Confident U, Lindsey Richardson personal trainer, Studio 76, Julie Mercer beautician and the Cross Keys pub on Tadcaster Road.

£170 was donated by Yorkshire Housing which was used to buy the spacehopper equipment which was a big hit with the children.

Cllr Stephen Fenton commented  “The local volunteers who organised this fantastic event deserve a huge amount of credit. Their efforts have helped to bring the community together and create a positive atmosphere.”

The inflatable obstacle course was a hit with young and old alike!

Dementia activity sessions get underway

A Woodthorpe-based charity is to run themed activity sessions for people living with dementia. The first session, on the theme of ‘A day at the seaside’, is on Thursday 6 July from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at St James the Deacon church hall on Sherringham Drive – see poster below for details.

Dementia Yorkshire has received a grant from the Dringhouses & Woodthorpe ward committee to help support these monthly sessions. We wish them every success.

Love to Eat / Chapmans Pond summer fair success

The sun shone on a successful summer fair on Sunday 11 June hosted by Love to Eat and Friends of Chapmans Pond. The Energise climbing wall was a hit with the kids, and a number of local groups and organisations ran stalls including Dringhouses Library, West Thorpe Scouts, Woodthorpe Community Group and Dementia Yorkshire.

Cllr Stephen Fenton also took the opportunity to check out the new storage container that has arrived on site, funded through a ward committee grant to the Friends of Chapmans Pond. The container will be painted green, and there are plans to create a vegetation ‘camouflage.’

Easter event success for Revival residents

Residents on the Revival estate off Tadcaster Road organised a terrific family Easter event on Good Friday. There was a treasure hunt with clues deposited around the estate, and an Easter bonnet competition with lots of fantastic entries.

Staff from Tesco Askham Bar were there to serve free refreshments and run an Easter egg decorating stall.

Many thanks to the Revival Community Association for their hard work to make this happen.
