The York Council has released details of the make up of the social housing waiting list.
The list consists of mainly younger people.

Police are appealing for a vital witness to come forward after a road traffic collision in York, which left a pedestrian with serious injuries.
It occurred at around 12.15am on Saturday 8 February 2014, at the junction of Boroughbridge Road and Carr Lane.
The collision involved a silver Skoda Octavia taxi, travelling along Boroughbridge Road towards the city, and a 31-year-old York man, crossing the road from Carr Lane towards Ouse Acres.
The prices, of the flats being converted from the bus shelter office block on Rougier Street, have been announced.
The penthouse will cost a whopping £300,000 which is a lot given the somewhat noisy neighbourhood.
There is no parking with the flats but theya re being sold with the latest electrnic gadgets including an iPad mini that is interfaced

The Council has now published the application that it has made (to itself) for a premises license for the use of Monk Stray.
There are no restrictions on the duration of the license which would allow plays, films, live music (till midnight), recorded music, performance of dance and “anything similar” together with the supply of alcohol for on and off site sales (until 2300 hours)

Residents have until 24th February to submit any objections.
The Council have so far failed to explain why the event could not have been accommodated on the Knavesmire.
Larger events, such as Royal Ascot at York and a visit by the Pope, have been accommodated there without major difficulties.
The Council has now announced two further campsites on its web site.
They will be at Millennium Bridge and the Designer outlet.
Again no consultation has taken place with affected residents and the information has yet to appear on the official TdF website
Official “all day” car parking is being offered at the “old” Askham Bar Park and Ride site for £8. By June this car park will have closed as the new adjacent site will have been brought into use. People will be expected to walk from there to the Knavesmire.
Mystery also surrounds the costs of repairing highways on the TdF route. No provision has been made in the Councils budget for essential repairs although the whole of the highways network is in increasing need of major investment.
All decisions on the organisation of the TdF locally are being taken behind closed doors.
Despite having a record high £13 million surplus on the housing account, Labour plan to increase rent levels by 5%.in April.
The Council have stubbornly refused to use the surplus to buy additional homes on the open market.
Meanwhile new figures released by the Council confirm that most of the 2333 people registered on the housing waiting list are single and are seeking one bedroomed accommodation.
856 of these are aged under 30.
The jury cleared nursery worker Sophee Readhead of manslaughter by gross negligence and a further health and safety charge.
York College has been found guilty of health and safety failings which led to the death of a three-year-old girl at their on-site nursery.
The College was found guilty by a jury at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday 6 February 2014 after a trial lasting three weeks, of failing to ensure people not in their employment are not exposed to a risk to their health and safety.
The College is due to be sentenced on Friday 14 February 2014.
Lydia tragically died during her first full day at York College Nursery on 17 September 2013, after a rope attached to a slide became entangled around her neck.
The Council has issued the latest City centre footfall figures.
The figures show more people visited Parliament Street during December and January this winter than in the equivalent period 12 months ago.
However compared to 2012, numbers are down by 9%.
The decline in shopper numbers is likely to have been influenced by the Councils decision to impose substantial car parking charge increases.
It appears that the “free” car parking day on Saturday did not produce the hoped for increases in footfall.
The numbers monitored on Saturday (1st Feb 2014) was 31,974 compared to the busiest Saturdays in the two previous years when 37,137 (2nd Feb 13) and 40,951 (28th Jan 12) people respectively were recorded on Parliament Street.

York police are appealing for information after a schoolgirl was physically assaulted in the city.
It occurred at around 3.45pm on Friday 31 January 2014, as she walked along Viking Road, Acomb, close to the junction for Jute Road. More

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in a road collision on the B1363 Sutton Road in Wigginton near York on Friday 31 January 2014.
The collision occurred near to a property called The Oaks at around 5pm and involved a black Ford Fiesta travelling towards York and a white van travelling in the opposite direction. More
