Easter event success for Revival residents

Residents on the Revival estate off Tadcaster Road organised a terrific family Easter event on Good Friday. There was a treasure hunt with clues deposited around the estate, and an Easter bonnet competition with lots of fantastic entries.

Staff from Tesco Askham Bar were there to serve free refreshments and run an Easter egg decorating stall.

Many thanks to the Revival Community Association for their hard work to make this happen.

New cycle path takes shape

Progress is being made with the construction of the long-awaited cycle path linking the Revival estate (on the old College site) with the green lane path. The new path, which will run alongside the College playing fields, will provide residents with quicker and safer access to Bishopthorpe and the Knavesmire.

Construction of the path could not begin until the local newt population had been trapped and relocated.

Parking restrictions set to bite

New parking restrictions on the Revival estate, off Tadcaster Road, are set to bite from Monday 14th December.

Masters Mews gate

After a two week ‘period of grace’, Minster Baywatch will begin proactive enforcement of the new restrictions on Masters Mews and Scholars Court from 14 December.

The restrictions have been brought in after letters to residents failed to stop a small but persistent number of motorists parking in front of the emergency access gates that lead out onto Tadcaster Road. It is hoped that the new restrictions will also help to address other types of inappropriate parking, such as parking across footpaths.

In response to concerns raised by residents, Cllr Stephen Fenton has asked that an additional bollard be installed on Masters Mews (pictured below) at a location where pavement parking is a problem.

‘Revival’ parking proposals published

Proposals have been published by the council which would introduce waiting restrictions at a number of locations on the ‘Revival’ development off Tadcaster Road.

The proposals (details of which can be viewed below) are designed to improve safety at places that are adversely affected by indiscriminate / obstructive parking.

Cycle track ‘missing link’ inches towards conclusion

Revival cycle track ends

On a recent visit to York College Ann, Stephen and Ashley raised the issue of the ‘missing link’ in the cycle track that will connect Tadcaster Road with the Green Lane.

The link currently comes to an abrupt halt at the bottom end of the Revival development, on the old College site.

Environmental consultants have been commissioned to survey the area where a path would potentially go, as the area is an established newt habitat.  The outcome of the survey will determine which alignment the path will take and what time of year would be best for the construction to cause minimum disturbance to the wildlife.

Once there is clarity on the wildlife issues and best route, it should be possible to proceed with construction as the funding has already been secured.

The College has also confirmed that it expects the building work currently taking place on site to be completed in August.
